To the Person Who is Facing a Difficult Decision
Take a deep breath… In… Out…
You’re going to be OK no matter which path you choose.
You might be feeling confused, anxious, frustrated. You don’t know what the right choice is for you. What if you make the wrong decision and ruin your life? You wish you could run away. Or better yet, you wish someone else will decide for you. Yes! That way, you have someone to blame if it all goes wrong.
The truth, though, is that you can’t make a wrong decision. There isn’t right or wrong. It’s not even a decision anyway. You’re indicating your preference for a possible outcome, but life is not obligated to follow that script. Each path offers an unique possibility and different lessons to learn along with it.
No matter which path you take, you’re capable of making the best out of any situation. You will go through difficult challenges, but you can turn them into fuel that feeds your resolve, and eventually, your confidence. What matters is not which path you take, but the mindset you maintain while walking down the chosen path.
When You’re Haunted by Your Past Decision
Still, you may have days when you’re overwhelmed by the “Woulda, shoulda, couldas”. It’s OK. We’ve all been there. Here’s how I deal with days like those:
I personally believe that there are multiple parallel worlds out there. And for each major decision in my life, there’s another me who chose the other option. I entrust that parallel me to make the best out of the life she chose. I send her love and hope that she is happy. My job, in this particular universe that I currently find myself in, is to make the best out of the life I chose and make the other me proud.
So, if you’re faced with a tough decision right now, don’t make it more dramatic than it needs to be. Happiness is not exclusive to one path or the other. You can always choose to see a life full of opportunities and be grateful for the lessons that came your way. You can always choose to be not just OK, but happy with the choices you made.
