May We Never Underestimate Our Connections to The Ancestors
On Monday, I participated in a reiki circle event that gave me a new appreciation for the power of reiki. And as I contemplated it some more afterwards, I gained a new insight into how our ancestors might be involved in its workings. It’s just a theory of mine, but I thought it would be interesting to share because you could apply the same thought process to your daily life.
What is a Reiki Circle?
First, let me explain what a reiki circle is. It could be a little different depending on who is hosting it, but you usually sit in a circle and the participants perform reiki, an energy healing method. (I have several posts about reiki, so I encourage you to take a look if you want to learn more specifics about reiki!) In this particular event, we had about 15 participants plus 4 reiki practitioners. We also had a performer who played truly relaxing music on an instrument called mbira. As a practitioner, I performed reiki on each participant, switching every 5 minutes. We were also told that if we had someone special that we wanted to send reiki to, we could picture them in the middle of the circle. Reiki, it is said, knows no distance or time, so it would reach them wherever they may be.
How Was the Experience?
It was such a soothing yet energizing experience for me. I think the participants felt the same because some of the participants were nodding off in their chairs. (That’s actually an excellent sign that reiki is doing its magic!) I never felt tired even though I was on my feet, holding my hands up in awkward positions. I had heard that the power of reiki multiplies exponentially if you do it as a group. This was the first time I had really felt it, first hand. The energy was intense but in a very good way. When I’m doing reiki on myself, I find that my mind wanders sometimes. But this time, I was in the zone, able to concentrate the entire time.
I think it was also very interesting that, afterwards, the participants said they felt the difference in our energies. While we are all trained as a reiki practitioner, we do tend to have our own “flavor”. The participants said that some of us had warm energies that made them tingle all the way to their fingertips. Others, they said, were cool and refreshing, like a light breeze or running water.
Our Ancestors and Their Role in Reiki
After the event, I had a personal experience that confirmed the power of reiki for me. While I won’t go into details, someone that I had pictured in the middle of the reiki circle had almost a miraculous thing happen to them. And that got me thinking about why reiki multiplies when performed in a group, and how it works even at a distance.
That’s where the idea of ancestors came to me. In my opinion, reiki is just pure love. So, when I send reiki to someone that I don’t know much about, I often call upon the person’s loved ones to come help me. A lot of times, I feel the presence of their parents and/or grandparents. I also ask my own relatives to help me too, so there are multiple souls pouring pure love through my hands. Now imagine, with 20 total people in the room, how many souls were concentrating on downloading love into our reiki circle?
Even better, if you involve earlier generations of your family, the number grows exponentially, quite literally. You only need to trace back 10 generations to reach 1024 ancestors. If you ask for help from every person that you share your DNA with, it’s enough to fill stadiums after stadiums. Even if only a portion of them actually came to help, it makes sense to me that reiki intensifies when performed in a group.
And I think that is a good explanation for why reiki works at a distance, too. Since souls are free of a physical body, I don’t think they are bound by distance or time. They can be with 2 people at once, even if they are half way across the planet. What if our ancestors are the missing link? Maybe they help us connect in a way that’s not possible in the physical world.
Ask for Help from Your Ancestors
Again, this is just a theory that I arrived at only a few days ago. It might not ring true for you, and that’s OK. But I hope you will remember your ancestors the next time you are feeling alone and helpless. You always have a direct hotline connecting you to each and every one of your ancestors. It’s already within you. Your DNA is a gift given to you by the thousands and thousands of souls invested in your well-being. You are never, ever alone. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
