May It Take No Effort In Your Being Generous
Sharing What You Can, Nothing More, Nothing Less
Generosity – In today’s world, being generous is too often equated with offering money or material items. This misconception can unfortunately push some people to give more than they can afford. But there’s so much that we can share other than just tangible things! You can be generous with compliments, generous with your kindness, or generous with patience. A hug, a smile, a shoulder to cry on. They can all do wonders that no amount of money can buy.
There’s a song that I love by a Japanese singer named Fujii Kaze called Kaerou. One part of the lyrics can be translated to “What you are capable of giving are the very things you have received. Be thankful and stand tall.” I feel like these two quotes, combined, points to the true definition of what generosity means.
Being generous doesn’t need to take effort because you are giving away what you’ve already received in abundance. A giver is always a receiver. And a receiver is always given an opportunity to become a giver. The second you receive, you can give thanks! You don’t have to have anything in order to be generous.
“May it take no effort in your being generous, sharing what you can, nothing more, nothing less.” – Jason Mraz, an excerpt from the song Have It All
